Lake Superior at 30 Knots

By Captain

With Grand Marais MN 0nly 15 miles ahead, this northwesterly came in changing our beam reach to a beat. The North Shore of MN kept the waves down a bit. After this video was shot the wind increased and held at 40-45 knots. Johnny Bonkers was the cameraman.

A Great lake to sail on Eh! My nephew and I sailed across from Sault to Thunder Bay in Sept 2009. A portion of a trip from Toronto. Search for Carl Bezeau if interested. Cheers!

Reefed down, yah! There is no need for a storm jib as one says! Thanks for this video! I enjoy Grand Marais, but usually take a different point of entry – highway ) :

Lake Superior isn’t so bad. I’d fly a storm jib only in 30 knts though, I think.
