Thats awesome! I dont know much about sailing, but I’m curious, how do you keep the boat from tipping over from the wind?
February 7th, 2010 at 11:36 pm
The boat is a cutter rig but in these condition we just had a high cut Yankee hank on jib and a double reefed main with a preventer. The boat has dual head stays. Autopilot steering while i filmed..

I wonder what the sails where set at was the jib up or just the main? it looked like the main was up at least. I take it the boat was on auto pilot?

Herb is the MAN. It will be a sad day when he retires.
Love your vids!

I like the reference to Herb. All ways listen to Herb and heed his advice.

Shannons are my favorite boats. They are built like tanks.

I agree to ZeDoColmeal. The heel on Starboat looks like 20 to 25 knots. Nevertheless, nice sailing trip.

that is heavy… im sure the camera doesn’t do justice, but look at the heel on the starboard side

got to love a kick ass auto pilot and crew with good morale. It makes a good trip, nice video, cheers.

It’s kind of “light” your heavy weather!

I always can’t help thinking about the outcome if there isn’t a keel.

Beautiful boat.
It really is a shame how the camera shrinks the waves.

beautiful boat. I can’t wait to be at that level of sailing! cruising back after a race . . . sounds great to me. it’s good to see a vid like yours amidst all the extreme weather vids. keep it up.

I LOVE IT!
I wanna be out there right now. I can’t get enough of that kind of sailing. Of course I always get a little tired of everyone else getting sick, but I love it!

bunch o pussies!
February 8th, 2010 at 8:31 am
How big are those waves? How big can a boat like that handle?
February 8th, 2010 at 8:35 am
The devil by the looks of it!
February 8th, 2010 at 8:39 am

February 8th, 2010 at 9:22 am

Way to funny. “It’s gonna be like this for two days.”
“You’re kiddin”?
“no”
Silence.

Thanks, We are sailing from Bermuda to Charleston SC – we are approximately 400 miles out, almost halfway to Charleston.
