During the 2010 Spring Series I shot this brief video of the GPS laying procedure and the ‘easy option’ recovery — it was filmed during a ‘quiet moment’, so you see it exactly as it was. Speaking over wind and engine noise, my voice-over is a bit monotone, for which I apologise… I was director, cameraman and narrator – and I was trying to drive the boat with the other hand…! We did two takes of the pickup, but time was pressing and the laying process was filmed in one take, so I’m not too unhappy with the result. All comments welcome. Tony M

Crédités de la meilleure vitesse moyenne pour l’ensemble de la flotte depuis hier, Dominique et Michèle ne sont plus qu’à 150 milles de Neutrogena, tandis que l’écart qui les sépare du troisième, Renault ZE s’est également raccourci. Contacté en fin de matinée par téléphone satellite, Dominique Wavre est satisfait des conditions du moment «Le vent se renforce depuis le nord, et il va encore forcir ces prochaines heures. Nous naviguons au reaching, à très bonne vitesse. Le Mirabaud est fantastique ; c’est un voilier très puissant et dans ces conditions il fait parler la poudre ! On tire dessus à fond et le voilier se comporte très bien, il va vite et trace sa route dans une très bonne stabilité. C’est vrai que ça fait du bien de lire les fichiers météo en ce moment, et de voir les positions et les vitesses respectives des autres voiliers.
