The cameraman is in Laser by himself sailing DDW or dead-down-wind. Catamarans and trimarans are slowest on this point of sail but the 3 sails on the weta trimaran still catch enough wind that even with 2 people on board it makes ground on the laser before reaching off for more speed but worse VMG, velocity-made-good

We had light winds for training but the first day of the regatta brought great winds. It was colder and wetter that average in LA this year but the sun was out for the last day.
