Lake Superior at 30 Knots

Posted by: Captain | Comments (5)

With Grand Marais MN 0nly 15 miles ahead, this northwesterly came in changing our beam reach to a beat. The North Shore of MN kept the waves down a bit. After this video was shot the wind increased and held at 40-45 knots. Johnny Bonkers was the cameraman.

Antarctica trip 2009 – sailing on 60 foot alloy yacht from ushuaia to antarctic peninsula. Sailing around the cape horn at 60+ knots gusts of wind on the way back. This is from series of 3 videos – not very artistic but hope to show how much fun we had. blog 23am.com/blog (there is a link that points to my Antarctica 09 blog)

Heavy-weather sailing north of the Bay Bridge, September 11, 2009. The boat is a Morris Leigh 30 running under double-reefed main and storm jib. Crew making snarky comments is my intrepid wife Amy, who piloted flawlessly as I flailed around the cockpit. (Note jib sheet trailing in the water!)
