Auckland to Noumea race 09 on board the Y11 Route 66 in 40+ kts of wind. Not much fun. Waves estimated to be 5m+

With Grand Marais MN 0nly 15 miles ahead, this northwesterly came in changing our beam reach to a beat. The North Shore of MN kept the waves down a bit. After this video was shot the wind increased and held at 40-45 knots. Johnny Bonkers was the cameraman.

Antarctica trip 2009 – sailing on 60 foot alloy yacht from ushuaia to antarctic peninsula. Sailing around the cape horn at 60+ knots gusts of wind on the way back. this was a run to Race narrows in LI Sound on October 12, 2007 – winds gusting to 45+ knts, very choppy and wet. Oz has a 100% jib only and moving at 7.5 knts

Heavy-weather sailing north of the Bay Bridge, September 11, 2009. The boat is a Morris Leigh 30 running under double-reefed main and storm jib. Crew making snarky comments is my intrepid wife Amy, who piloted flawlessly as I flailed around the cockpit. (Note jib sheet trailing in the water!)
